Hello All,
My nickname is monkpiper, or you may call me Terry. I appreciate your forum and would like help and advice especially in the arena of spotting fake and counterfit coins.
Also, I recently purchased a French - Capetian coin, 1285-90 AD Philip IV Tours mint, 4.0 gms. This coin is in excellent condition, reference number is stated as Duplessy 251. If somone can advise me on this coin, scarcity, and importance & approximate value, I would greatly appreciate it. It also has reference MCN737. I do not have reference material prior to 1500, yet.
Also, does anyone know the reputation of Gabriel Vandervort? Of ancientresource.com, he seems to be an amiable person, but one never can tell much from a few emails.

Sorry about the lack of information and a personal touch.
I am a Design Engineer/Project Coordinator on large complex process oil/gas/petrochemical/chemical/pharmaceutical and just about any Heavy Industry that has complex processes.
I am 48 years old, married to a wonderful woman, have a beautiful 9 year old daughter who is exactly like her Daddy. I am whipped there! LOL
We enjoy numismatics, the outdoors, Ice Age fossil paleontolgy. We have a fair collection of material found beachcombing and also a few paleo-indian artifacts, even a couple of clovis points.
We live in Texas, just a short drive to the Gulf of Mexico and we go often. Anyone who is in the area is welcome to join us for fossil hunting on the occasional weekend outing.

bonjour terry,
welcome to delcampe. cajun knows texas very well, although my father is cajun as i am too, i was an army brat and born in fort sam houston, san antonio, texas. dad and mom were born in baton rouge. i also trained there as an army medic, came back there when wounded in vietnam, and later in 1994, took my son, jr., for a medical exam at the lackland afb hospital via a medevac flight being i am retired army . and also came through fort worth/dallas on our way back years later when jr. got out of the army himself from fort carson on our way home to florida. a great state full of diversity and great tex-mex food. and cajun having a mexican uncle, just loves tex/mex cookin'. as for your advice, i suggest putting your request on the coin forum. we do have very knowlegable persons on board here that can assist you. i do want to warn you about buying any rare coins, caveat emptor. we recently had a buyer here who lost several thousands of dollars buying a coin he never received. unfortunately, he paid in a way that he could not retrieve his money. so please buy from a reputable seller and do your research, ask questions before bidding. it is so easy to be scammed, and we do not wish this to happen to you on delcampe. and it won't if you follow commonsense rules. and you seem to very well educated. if you think something isn't genuine here, report it to sebastien, he will surely investigate it. he runs an honest ship here. take care and enjoy your time on delcampe.

I reckon Cajunsr1 will be the next to go . He acts almost as if he were delcampe's English-speaking staff member.
Rogermo Wednesday, Cajunsr1 Friday, I wouldn't be surprised.
